Around the shores of Lake Tahoe, several restaurants offer either lakeside dining or great lake views. As a long time Tahoe resident, I have a few favorites. I hesitate in publishing some of the less known spots as I don't want them to get too busy and spoil my chances of getting a good view of the lake while there or take away the sense of discovery for those who are on vacation. Personally, I enjoy the exploration aspect of vacations but do appreciate receiving advice from locals on the best places to shop, eat, or hike. So, here I go. One of my four favorite spots.
The Beacon, located on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe, is a great little lakeside spot. Over the years, it has become popular but the wait is never long or not at all.
The Beacon offers a signature Rum Runner or wines to accompany anything from burgers, fish and chips, tacos, to seared ahi or salads. It has a great lunch menu and is a wonderful spot on the lake with great views from West Shore to Cave Rock. Their dinner menu adds pastas and seafood or ribs. This is one of my go-to spots after a hike up Glenn Alpine or Emerald Bay. The staff is great. They always offer smiles and fast service while at the same time, do not rush you to get up and move on out. "Take your time" is a phrase I have heard over and over. Love it!
